Partners Introduction

Spain

The GANDALF CULTURAL ASSOCIATION is a non profit association set up in 1985 in the suburbs of Madrid. It is managed by 2 staff members  and 17 volunteer workers.
It is a neighborhood association whose students (young and adult people) belong to socially and culturally underprivileged groups. They are offered few learning opportunities in the neighborhood and feel discouraged because of several failures suffered in the regulated and formal institutions. That is why they need another kind of educative strategies to develop their basic competences.

Turkey

MANİSA HALK EĞİTİM MERKEZİ VE AKŞAM SANAT OKULU MÜDÜRLÜĞÜ is an adult and non profit education center. Our organization is in the city center of Manisa but there is a reality that many of  our learners come from rural areas. They are generally uneducated ,unemployed and not in a good condition economically. We organize languages, IT, art craft, folk dances, sportcourses for adults, especially women and similar courses related to non-formal education. This project will be a good opportunity for our learners and staff to cooperate with foreign countries.

Slovenia

Zavod za novodobno izobraževanje was founded as private institute (NGO) in year 2005 in Slovenia. Our mission is to develop new approaches for realizing full potential of individuals and to help achieve integration in society. We are working in the field of informal life education for different target groups like: young people, students, unemployed, elderly people... Our learning projects are carried out through activities with the multicultural dimension. This dimension is the basic framework of all programs, where the active role of the participants is essential . That is why the project Knowing your town will enrich our programme, give opportunities to include more young people in our projects, strengthen awareness about own cultural background and give new possibilities for multicultural exchange.

Poland

Blind Assistance Foundation was established in 1992 throughout the country and its purpose is to help the families of the blind in terms of health, rehabilitation, education, recreation and sport. Participation in the project and contact with healthy people will help handicapped listeners to leave their inner isolation, surpass their own barriers and become more open to other human beings. Engagement in informal education may in the future come to fruition in the form of willingness of further studying, learning foreign languages or desire to have a specific occupation.

Romania

Colegiul Economic Hermes is a public school catering for students from 14 – 18 years of age, for students with special needs and for adult learners. As a trade school it has a wide range of vocational training courses available. The school is in an urban setting in the centre of Romania, in a mountain area with a growing tourism potential but it is also severely affected by the decay of the mining industry. Therefore the rate of unemployment and poverty is growing.
There is a transient community which presents challenges in terms of continuity and social inclusion. By being partner in this project, we intend to enlarge the learning experience of the members of our training courses and our NGO given the fact that the area is increasingly demanding professional reorientation towards new economic sectors.
